The Christmas goat 1966-2009

Goats are one of Sweden´s oldest Christmas symbols. People used to dress up as billy goats and do house calls, performing a little play or singing and handing out presents. Billy goats were and still are made out of straw in various sizes as a Cristmas decoration.
The organization Södra Kungsgatans Ideella Förening was initiated by the merchants in the southern part of Gävle City. When the story begins Harry Ström was the chairman and Stig Gavlén responsible för the public relations.
